My research broadly focuses on the development of transnational networks that support environmental and social justice.

1. Globalization of Japanese Universities and other Education Systems
2. Development of critical and creative thinking skills in Japanese youth, especially in environmental and music education
3. Program Development of English Language Education that incorporates Intercultural Communication Skills

こんな研究をしています

I am fascinated with developing the critical and creative thinking skills of Japanese youth to meet the challenges of the 21st Century. My current research focuses on both teacher training programs and program development for young children, mainly in the fields of nature-based education (such as Forest Kindergarten) and music education that stresses creating music (mainly modern music such as electronica and hip-hop) as opposed to performing music. I have currently applied for a multi-year grant to explore how children explore both traditional instruments (such as violin, drums, and flutes) as well as electronic instruments (samplers, drum machines, and synthesizers)
